Facebook Holds the Power over News Feed

Every activity users do in Facebook is the interesting part that makes Facebook special. Facebook is one of major social community network, besides MySpace and Twitter, that has a very huge number of users from all over the continents. The latest news come to the horizon is that Facebook has successfully gained the patent for its special feature called News Feed. News Feed is one way for users to see the whole activities they do and other users do whenever they go online.
Users can easily customize how and what they like to display in their News Feed for others to see. In a particular way, News Feed will automatically display all users’ activities in their Facebook account including the contents and all activities from various databases within the network. The contents are not only the ones users usually displayed, photo and videos are also something attractive that they tend to share to other users.
Actually, this attractive feature was applied to patent by Facebook Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg and 7 subordinates in August 2006. The purpose is to secure the technology and foundation of the social network in the future. Thus, because News Feed has become a staple of social networks, other social networks and bloggers take it as cautionary flag.
This patent lets Facebook to be more secured and it is more protective to the contents displayed on the News Feed. Facebook will examine any invitations come from other Internet companies or websites that may extend the Facebook’s contents to be away out from the network’s walls. The aims are to prevent users from leaving the Facebook networks as well as protecting their privacy. With the other links displayed in News Feed there will be a chance for users to get attracted and visit the link, it means that they will spend more time on the linked websites rather than in Facebook. If it continues to happen, it will be a big loss for Facebook, thus the all generated content displayed will not be accessible to Google, Bing, and Yahoo!. (fallen)
