The never-ending improvement of world’s giant search engine company, Google, comes with the new invention. Recently, Google launched encrypted search version of Google Search. It gives more complicated problem for anyone to intercept and read communication between Google and users during the search sessions. In more details, the encrypted search will be available by initiating an https:// rather than the one unprotected http:// connection.
According to Google, this encrypted search is an important addition to its service. It doesn’t have connection to the previous incident regarding the internet users in Europe that their searches were recently disclosed inadvertent collection of wireless network traffic from public Wi-Fi hotspots.
Furthermore, when you choose to use the https:// connection to reach Google, there will be less information sent to the site at the end of the link when you click on a search result link. With this encrypted search, you will not transmit the search keyword you entered every time you submit the query. The great benefit is that the encrypted search is able to provide privacy for many Google users.
Moreover, the enhancement of adding this encryption really cost Google and the data regarding the quantity of the expense is unable to be presented. The costs are mostly covering the engineering time and computational resources. Accordingly, this development demanded serious and great hard work and Google’s high expense is expected to bring more benefit to the users all over the world.
If you want to use the encrypted search, you should prepare yourself for the slower performance it presents, but it is just a slightly slow and it is supposed unnoticeable. However, you will get more privacy and security just like what you have expected.
In addition, it is suggested that the unscripted search is not a complete security solution for you to take. When you use this unscripted search, the all data will be presented to you in unencrypted form, it means that there is a chance for any person or malware to have an access to your computer or even mobile devices. And the worse is that they will be able to read your information. Hence, when someone or malware accessed your information, Google will do nothing dealing with it or prevent this incident.
For this moment, Google is only enabling the unscripted search to Google Search only. You will not be able to use the search on Google Maps or Google Images. Therefore, Google removes the links of Maps and Images from the left-hand menu pane on the search result pages to avoid the confusion among the users.
