Droid Incredible Is Said to be The Nexus Two

The newly rolled-out cell phone from HTC, Droid Incredible, is designed to meet many users’ specifications and you won’t be surprised learning that this device is now called as “Google Nexus Two.” According to iSuppli, this nickname comes out learning that HTC Droid is built with almost the same specification with Google Nexus as exemplified with the fact that Incredible includes the bill materials of $163 which is Nexus’s is $174.

The significant similarities found out when iSuppli analysis figured out that the HTC Droid Incredible and Google Nexus One are manufactured by the same company, HTC. This proof is quite surprising and some parties concluded this can be the reason why Droid Incredible is dubbed as Nexus Two. According to iSuppli’s principal analyst, Andrew Rassweiler, these two devices are very similar both in terms of costs and features. The only difference comes between these two smartphones is that the Droid Incredible runs over CDMA network utilized by Verizon in USA.

Viewing each cell phone’s specifications, both Droid Incredible and Nexus One are Android-based devices. iSuppli added, the two of them are integrated with a 3.7-inch AMOLED interface and they are also designed with Qualcomm’s 1GHz Snapdragon processor. Moreover, these two smartphones take 4Gbit Mobile DDR DRAM onboard as vital support for the processor.

Taking closer look to the bill of material of Droid Incredible, the Qualcomm processor is on top of the list with $31.40. This processor includes the dual-mode HSPA/CDMA 1xEVDO Rev. A. As well, other great features also equip this smartphone such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3D graphic and the mobile broadcast TV. Further analysis conducted by iSuppli discovered that Incredible has already equipped with NAND flash memory and Samsung’s DDR DRAM. Also, it is learned that Incredible also uses NAND from Hynix Semiconductor Inc. as another source of supply.

Furthermore, other sources that have give contribution to Droid Incredible are Broadcom, Texas Instruments and Atmel. According to iSuppli, Broadcom supplies a chip that joins Bluetooth, FM, and WLAN and each unit costs at $8.45. The power-management components are provided by Texas Instruments and Qualcomm that comes with $7.25 for each item, whereas the touch screen interface contributed by Atmel tagged $5.55 in price. The last feature is combined with AKM Semiconductor compass and Bosch Sensortec accelerometer. In addition, Droid Incredible packs an 8MP camera that is charged $15.70 per unit.
