Maybe your websites numbers tell you it needs a boost. Maybe your company is stalling and needs a breath of fresh air. How to achieve this without a lot of expense or time? Social media to the rescue to add oomph to your online marketing. Trying something new to drum up business couldn't hurt, and it might even be interesting.

First, blog more. Actually, don't merely blog, but link to other sites for greater connectivity and search engine power. And be sure that your blog is mobile friendly! There are various tools to check this, including Google’s Mobile-Friendly Test. Be sure, too, that your content pops and is not merely mediocre. 

Next, consider adding audio by recording a podcast or another recording that reveals your company's personality and vision. Reinforce your brand and message audibly with any number of online tools that allow recording and editing. You might need to purchase a microphone, but many computers already have such resources. 

Then, find an audience you already know. That is, ask your community what questions you might answer for them, and then do so on social media. Create an online forum to a Q and A or to announce a new product line or activity. Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are just several of many ways to get the word out and invite people to participate in what you're offering. Attractive illustrations, thought questions, pithy words of wisdom, and business advice are just a few of the post possibilities, too. Give people a fun and interesting reason to participate. 

You don't have to reinvent the wheel, either. If you already have a number of blog posts or social media accounts accrued, tweak them with new information or insight. Find the most popular posts, too, and consider reposting with a twist. Breathing fresh air into previous material is a good way to work smarter, not harder. 

And once you've gotten the community active with your project, don't forget to let them monitor how you're doing, as well as what they need or want from you. Create a spot for polite and appropriate public input. People are happy to offer feedback, good and bad, so let their words of advice sink in.  

This sounds odd to some, but there is wisdom in it: become your own customer. In other words, try out your product or service for yourself. Determine whether it is all it could be from a customer's point of view. If you have a less than smooth experience utilizing your own stuff, that's a problem -- but a problem that can be fixed nonetheless. Being aware of hiccups and glitches is the first step. 

Add eye interest with photo editing tools such as Canva. Editing and creating images for your business is an inexpensive but effective way to garner customers who are drawn to a pleasing social media page or webpage. It also improves your company's first impression since images are not only meant to be attractive. They have an impact on their viewers and allow richer storytelling for a business. 

Be a lifelong learner, too. Sites such as Mediabistro offer reasonably priced online courses in everything from copywriting to social media management. Polish your skills and hone your mind with a few classes that could really help to make a difference in your revenue and success. 

These simple but effective ideas could help make 2018 a banner year for your business. Good luck implementing them, and don't forget to be flexible as you have both successes and failures. Though success feels sweeter, failure is not terminal and often leads to growth.
